Sebastien Le Prestre, known as Vauban, Louis XIV Marechal, is one of the great figures of Morvan. Born at Saint-Léger-Vauban, he remained faithful to his birthplace all his life.Vauban lest important written works where he shows great insight into the realities of his time, he also suggested quite advanced social reforms such as his Projet d'une dîme royale (A Project for a Royal tax). The House of Vauban pays tribute to Vauban's life and work though an original museography completed with a 20-minute-documentary videofilm (French, English, German). Beyond the military strategist, the exhibition makes you discover other faces of the man : the economist, the statistician, the reformator, the humanist, the philosopher...
