Room N° 1 : Owing to the dream of a scholar of the XIX° century, Jean-Etienne Miltiade Simmonet de Bresse de Préfontaine, and his gift to the city of Noyers, this museum, founded in 1873, settles in a former college of the XVIIth century and still shows fainting furniture, engravings and moldings representing life in this period.

Room N°2 : The historical gallery initiated by Monsieur de Bresse, has been enriched by a few gifts and discoveries. The history of Noyers is presented by a collection of statues, paintings, maps and historical objects.

Hall : Jacqueline Selz & Yvon Taillandier’s donation : many items collected for over 30 years by these benefactors and including a rare and original collection.
The collection is relating to popular art and includes items from Japan, China, Cuba, Mexico, India and Nepal…
They have been selected for their beauty and collected as work of art : toys, pictures, religious items, naive paintings, silver and war ex-voto…


1st Floor : Yankel’s donation you’ll appreciate naive art and « raw art » through the important collection given in 1987 by the artist Yankel, son of the painter Kikoïne, and a passionate art lover. 105 paintings of naive art and « raw art » where the most famous painters of naive art (Nikifor, Bombois, Vivin, Bauchant, Boix-Vives) are presented among unknowns, anonymous and foreigners.

Yankel Jacob Kikoine “Jacques Yankel” (1920) French painter.
Son of the French painter Michel Kikoine (Ecole de Paris), was a geologist by training who started painting only after 1945, in the tradition of the Ecole de Paris. His style changed from Expressionism to Abstract Expressionism. His works were exhibited in Suillerot, Royale and Drouant-David Galleries. He won several honorary prizes among them, the Prix Neumann, Prix de l’Afrique du Nord and Prix de la Societe des Amateurs d’Art.
